I discovered Bill Hicks, the conscious comedian

I’m sitting here wondering how in the world I went through much of my adult life without ever having heard of the comedian, Bill Hicks.

Truth be told, I’ve never been a follower of stand-up comedy, but it’s probably safe to assume that there aren’t very many comedians who believed in “one consciousness thinking,” using their platform to promote and enhance the human condition.

Bill Hicks was just such a comedian (He died in 1994 of pancreatic cancer that metastasized to the liver), merging his personal life (and life philosophy) with his work life.

How many of us can say that we passionately express what we believe in — actually feel that we are fulfilling our purpose — in what we do for a living?

When we unapologetically and transparently do that, we are naturally attractive and magnetic to others — at least to the others that matter — in our life and our work.

I’d like to share with you a short 5-minute YouTube clip of  Bill Hicks (which was my initiation to the artist).

(Incidentally, this is one of Hicks’ tamer routines; it contains no expletives.  If you are as unfamiliar with him as I was and find yourself wanting to discover more of his work, know that Bill Hicks is not shy about slinging profanity around.  “Viewer Discretion Advised”, as they say.)

It absolutely blew my mind.

Click the link to view Bill Hicks on “one consciousness,” enlightenment, and our collective and individual magnetic power to change the world (and our world) for the better:

Brilliant.

Let me know what you think.

  1. Tshombe!

Glad you found old Bill. He’s quite the enlightened comedian. I discovered him quite young and I often find myself going back to some of the lessons I learned…

Best regards to your magnetic self!

Hi Kim, I’m really glad I found Bill, too, and I’ll looking forward to exploring his other routines. It’s too bad he left the planet so young and so early.

    Hi @Dallas,

I agree. I will have to make a concerted effort to learn more about Bill Hicks myself and watch more of his “Conscious Comedy.”

It’s too bad Bill Hicks isn’t still with us…..

Do you have a favorite Bill Hicks segment you’d recommend?
