Hi Robin!

Isn't that a great line? Glad you liked it, too :-)

Yes, habitual patterns of thought and feelings can be challenging to untangle. One teacher of mine used to say that many of us are "addicted to feeling bad."

The thing is, now you have awareness of what's going on with gratitude that makes it not really work for many of us. But remember, the "stuckness" is in the resisting. Or, it might be better said that the stuckness is in the judging.

We do not want to judge feeling guilty. It's just a neutral feeling like any other feeling after all. And then after we notice and acknowledge it, we can simply turn our attention to something we feel grateful for.

No mixing things up, no trying to fix and change anything.

Just allowing whatever is and then consciously choosing what we what to feel next.

Thanks so much for this article. It has a lot of interesting info that I can't wait to ponder some more. The trick will be to use it... and not feel guilty, as that seems to be what is ingrained in my brain!!

My favorite line (though I must admit, I like a few) is... "Sometimes, we “spiritual folk” complicate things for ourselves!" That is great!!!!

Brilliant, David! I'm so glad this article resonated with you, and that you are making it a practice to listen to your intuition.

Our teachers, friends, and colleagues all mean well, but it really isn't possible to hold gratitude and guilt at the same time.

Thanks so much for your contribution to the article.

This really hit the spot.

I've always felt like I was being made to feel guilty whenever someone taught me how to feel grateful, and now I can understand why.

Feels so good to have my intuition validated :)

Thank you!

Thanks so much for the great comment, Karen. Yes, you get it: when we show empathy, the prospect says "Wow! This person DOES understand where I'm coming from." Articulating the challenges of our prospects isn't "negative." It shows we care about them enough to learn deeply about what concerns them.

The interesting (and valuable) thing about articulating the "pain" so well is that there is an automatic trust that is built up at the same time. The prospect then assumes we also have the solution to what ails them.

Then, of course, we have to deliver the solution!

Great point. So often with Law of Attraction, we want people to focus on what's right but often we have to show empathy and let them describe what's wrong (briefly) before we can actually help them.
